Yuval Hamebulbal

Yuval Hamebulbal

I took the two little ones to see Yuval Hamebulbal today for the second time (here’s a shot of them enjoying the February’s performance). His theme song says, he does nothing on purpose and everything ’stuiot’ (silly) and his stage name means “Yuval the confused”. But he usually has some good things to say and the little ones love him. Miriam’s friend Maya came along with us. All three girls had a great time and I enjoyed practicing my Hebrew.

Gramma Day 17 - A Lunch Date with Naomi

March 6, 2008 11:21 pm

Gramma and Naomi walked over to the Weizmann to meet David for lunch. Naomi was the only child in the cafeteria and sat and ate like a little princess. David and Gramma - not so much like little princesses.

We have been lucky enough to have another Canadian prof here on sabbatical with us. Stephanie is a physics prof at Memorial in St. Johns. Stephanie’s daughter Jordana was together with Naomi at daycare. I think that Naomi really appreciated having a little English-speaking friend with her at “school”, especially in the beginning. Stephanie and Jordana will be spending the rest of their sabbatical at the University of Waterloo. We wish them all the best for the rest of the school year and we will miss them.

Of course, most of you know that Naomi turned 2 in September. Well, it seems that birthdays are a pretty big deal here in Israel and since her daycare wasn’t ready to start doing birthdays back in mid-September, they celebrated her birthday at “school” this week. We had to buy snacks and cupcakes and all sorts of other things and show up there for the big party. Back home in Canada, we would drop a large box of Timbits at their preschool in the morning and that would be the extent of our involvement in the at-school birthday celebration. Anyway, the party was fun and Naomi enjoyed it very much.

Today was Naomi’s Birthday. She had a very good day—a trip to the pool with Miriam and Mommy, a mid-afternoon birthday cake snack and ending with a trip to Pua and Baruch’s for 2nd Rosh Hashanah dinner. Her cousins Elad and Uval were there and she had a great time - including more gifts (thank you Pua). We got home very late and the girls are very tired. Tomorrow we are going to Muli & Idit’s for another family gathering—it’s great to have so much family around to help us enjoy the new year!
